Free multisports sessions are set to return to Wilmslow this summer, offering children a fun and active way to stay engaged during the warmer months.
Funded by Wilmslow Town Council, the initiative is back for a second year and will run from 27 April through to the end of the summer, providing regular opportunities for young people to take part in sport.
When and where sessions take place
The sessions are open to children aged 7 to 13 years and will be held at multiple locations across the town:
* Mondays: 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Lacey Green Park * Wednesdays: 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Gravel Lane Play Area (The Pleasure) * Thursdays: 4:00pm – 5:00pm at Wilmslow Parish Hall (term time only)
The Thursday sessions will take place indoors, ensuring the programme can continue regardless of weather conditions.
What to expect
Delivered by qualified coaches from Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust, the sessions will offer a wide range of inclusive activities, including football, basketball and other team games.
Organisers say the focus is on creating a fun, supportive and welcoming environment where children of all abilities can take part, build confidence and develop new skills.
Free and accessible for all
All sessions are completely free to attend, with no pre-booking required. Children can simply turn up on the day, making it easy for families to take part without needing to plan in advance.
Participants are encouraged to bring a drink and wear suitable clothing for outdoor activity.
Supporting young people in the community
Wilmslow Town Mayor Councillor Sally Harrison welcomed the return of the programme, highlighting its value to local families.
She said: “We’re delighted to bring these free outdoor Multisports sessions back to Wilmslow for a second summer. They’re a fantastic way for young people to stay active, have fun, and spend time with friends while learning new skills.”
The initiative forms part of wider efforts by the council to support health, wellbeing and community engagement among young people.
