University of Chester base helps teaching staff supplier grow links with schools
A teaching staff support service is growing its reach across the education sector.

A teaching staff supplier based at the University of Chester is building stronger links with schools and colleges across the region after moving its head office to the city.
The Teaching Executives Ltd, an independent education staffing business founded 20 years ago, supports schools and colleges across Cheshire, Merseyside and Wales with permanent and temporary staff. Its work includes helping education providers find teachers, support staff, SEND staff and lecturers.
The company moved its head office from Liverpool to the University of Chester’s Riverside Innovation Centre, a business and meeting space on the banks of the River Dee. According to the University, the move has helped the firm continue to grow while strengthening its links with the local education community.
For Chester and the wider Cheshire area, the story is relevant because it connects three important local issues: education staffing, graduate opportunities and the role universities can play in supporting small and specialist businesses.
The Teaching Executives works with students who are training to become teachers, offering advice and support to help them gain classroom experience through supply and short-term roles. This can give trainee teachers practical experience in different school settings while they continue their studies.
The company also says opportunities are available for people who are not currently studying teaching but are looking for part-time work and may have transferable skills such as communication, organisation and teamwork.
The University of Chester said the business has worked with it to create student placement opportunities in areas including recruitment, cybersecurity, graphic design and administration. These placements are designed to give students practical experience inside a working business while supporting the company’s day-to-day operations.
Stephen Morris-Jones, founder of The Teaching Executives, said it had been rewarding to see the business grow alongside the people it had supported, including trainee teachers who went on to become fully qualified professionals.
He said the company had also worked closely with schools and colleges across the region and wanted to continue strengthening existing relationships while forming new ones.
The move highlights how university-linked business spaces can support local firms beyond simply providing office space. In this case, the Riverside Innovation Centre gives the company a Chester base while also creating closer links with students, schools and the wider education sector.
At a time when many schools are under pressure to find reliable staff and manage changing classroom needs, local recruitment and training links can play a practical role. For students, the partnership also offers a route into classroom experience and wider business placements.
