Visitors will be able to explore the gardens, stables and historic setting of Peover Hall near Knutsford during a June weekend supporting the National Garden Scheme.
Peover Hall is opening its gardens to visitors for a special charity weekend in June.
The historic Cheshire estate, in Over Peover near Knutsford, will welcome the public on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, from 12pm to 5pm.
The open weekend is being held in support of the National Garden Scheme, which raises money for nursing and health charities by opening private gardens to the public.
Admission is listed at £7 for adults and £4 for children, with tickets available to buy in advance through the National Garden Scheme. Visitors can also turn up and pay on the day.
Peover Hall Gardens are listed at Over Peover, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 9HW.
The weekend gives visitors a chance to explore the gardens and enjoy one of Cheshire’s most distinctive country house settings.
According to the National Garden Scheme, the house will also be open during the weekend, although tours carry an extra charge.
The Grade I listed Carolean stables, built in 1654, will also be open to view.
The stables are one of the most notable features of the estate, with richly carved stalls, original Tuscan columns and decorative strapwork.
Peover Hall itself is a Grade II* listed country house with a long history in the Cheshire countryside.
The wider estate has historic gardens, countryside views, mature planting, roses and a vegetable area.
Cream teas will be available in the Park House Tea Room, with sweet treat refreshments also available to buy.
Plants are also expected to be available for sale.
The National Garden Scheme listing says the gardens are dog friendly, although dogs should be kept on fixed short leads.
Cashless payment is accepted, and coaches are allowed, although larger groups are advised to check details in advance.
The event is likely to appeal to gardeners, history enthusiasts and families looking for a relaxed afternoon out in the Knutsford area.
Open garden weekends like this also give visitors access to private gardens that are not normally open every day.
They also help raise money for national charitable causes through admission fees, teas and cakes.
Visitors are advised not to rely only on sat nav. The National Garden Scheme says drivers should turn off the A50/Holmes Chapel Road at the Whipping Stocks pub, follow Stocks Lane, turn right onto Grotto Lane, then right onto Goostrey Lane, with the main entrance through white gates on the bend.
