Residents are being invited to comment on early proposals for around 450 homes on land east of Swanlow Lane in Winsford.
Residents are being invited to have their say on plans for a major new housing development on the edge of Winsford.
Muller Property Group has launched a public consultation on emerging proposals for around 450 homes on land east of Swanlow Lane.
The site sits on the southern edge of Winsford, immediately east of Swanlow Lane and south of Welsh Lane. The developer says the scheme would create a new residential neighbourhood with affordable housing, open space, landscaping and improved walking and cycling links.
The proposals are still at an early stage and no full planning decision has been made. Feedback from residents, local organisations and other stakeholders will be used before an outline planning application is submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council later this year.
According to the developer, the emerging masterplan includes a mix of one to five-bedroom homes, with affordable housing forming part of the scheme.
The plans also include public open space, green infrastructure, biodiversity improvements, sustainable drainage features and new planting across the site.
Muller Property Group says the development has been designed as a “landscape-led” extension to the town, with existing natural features such as trees, hedgerows and the Firwood Brook corridor retained and enhanced where possible.
The company says the site has been promoted through Cheshire West and Chester Council’s emerging Local Plan process as part of a wider area identified for future growth.
If progressed, the development would represent a significant expansion on the southern side of Winsford. For residents, the key issues are likely to include traffic, pressure on local services, access to schools and healthcare, the amount of affordable housing, and how the development would affect the character of the surrounding area.
The developer says the site benefits from access to local services, schools, public transport and Winsford town centre. Primary vehicle access is proposed from Swanlow Lane, with pedestrian and cycle links also planned to connect the development with nearby neighbourhoods, bus stops, amenities and public rights of way.
Michael Lovatt, area land director for the North West at Muller Property Group, said the proposals had been shaped around the site’s landscape features, surrounding context and the need to deliver new homes in sustainable locations.
He said the company recognised the importance of community engagement and encouraged residents and stakeholders to review the plans and share their feedback during the consultation.
The consultation is open until Friday 12 June 2026.
