Oakmere Lodge Country Park near Northwich has submitted plans for 10 additional holiday homes and a small workshop on its site. A Cheshire holiday park has submitted plans to add more lodges to its site.

Oakmere Lodge Country Park near Northwich has lodged an application with Cheshire West and Chester Council for 10 additional holiday homes.

The proposal also includes a prefabricated workshop to support the ongoing maintenance and management of the park.

According to the planning documents, the new holiday homes would be positioned in the south-eastern corner of the site.

The application says the area currently includes a central green space that has been used for informal sales and promotional activity, including a canvas sales tent and coffee mornings.

The applicant says those activities have helped improve the attractiveness of the park environment and supported the sale of holiday homes.

As a result, the layout of the park has been reviewed, with the proposed new lodges set along the south-eastern edge of the site.

A short section of new internal access road would be created from the existing road network. This would form a simple T-shaped arrangement to provide access to the new lodge plots.

The lodges would be set out in a linear arrangement along the site boundary, with the application saying this would create a clear and orderly layout in that part of the park.

The proposed lodges are described as smaller than others already on the site.

The separate workshop would be a small ancillary building used for storage and maintenance only. The application says it would not be open to the public.

Planning documents state that the workshop would be modest in scale and appearance and would not be expected to cause significant visual, noise or amenity impacts.

The plans are likely to be considered in the context of the existing holiday park use, the site layout, access arrangements and any impact on neighbouring land or the surrounding area.

Holiday parks and lodge developments can bring tourism and visitor spending benefits, but applications are often reviewed carefully for traffic, landscaping, drainage, visual impact and whether units are used for holiday accommodation rather than permanent residential occupation.

The application can be viewed on the Cheshire West and Chester Council planning portal using reference 26/01429/FUL.
