Late night opening times have been agreed for Alderley Edge bar Latch after objections from the parish council and a nearby resident were withdrawn following a negotiated compromise.
The London Road venue will now be allowed to remain open until 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, with alcohol sales and live or recorded music permitted until 1am.
From Sunday to Thursday, licensable activities can continue until midnight, while the premises may remain open until 12.30am, giving customers up to 30 minutes to finish their drinks before closing.
The revised hours were agreed after discussions between the applicant and those who had objected to the original proposal.
Latch had initially applied to Cheshire East Council to remain open until 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, with later hours also requested during the rest of the week.
Alderley Edge Parish Council and a nearby resident objected, raising concerns about noise, the use of outdoor seating and the potential impact on people living nearby.
As part of the agreement, the applicant accepted a number of conditions aimed at reducing disturbance to neighbours.
These include keeping live and recorded music indoors, ensuring doors and windows remain closed after 9pm except for access and egress, operating a noise management plan and monitoring music levels to prevent noise escaping from the premises.
The parish council said the revised conditions addressed the concerns set out in its original representation, particularly those relating to the prevention of public nuisance.
In its objection, the council said its concerns were not about licensed premises operating in the village but about the scale of the extension requested, existing complaints from nearby residents, the risk of noise breakout and the impact of external seating on pedestrians and neighbouring properties.
With the objections withdrawn, the licensing sub-committee meeting due to take place at Macclesfield Town Hall was no longer required.
The revised licence represents a significant extension to the venue’s existing permitted hours.
Latch is currently licensed to remain open until 11.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10.30pm on Sundays.
The application was submitted by Edward Odudu, of Global Cultural Events Ltd, who said the business wanted later trading hours comparable with other venues nearby while introducing measures to minimise any impact on residents.
The agreed licence allows the venue to extend its opening hours while operating under the additional conditions accepted during the licensing process.
