Heatwave conditions across England and Wales will persist until at least next week, with the Met Office confirming temperatures will remain above 30C through Sunday and into the coming week. The forecaster stated that areas of England and Wales will continue to exceed 30C, with Friday forecast to reach 33C to 35C in parts of central and western England and Wales.
While temperatures may ease slightly from Friday's peak, many southern and western parts are expected to stay above 30C over the weekend and into next week. Amber and yellow heat health alerts issued by the UK Health Security Agency remain in place across large parts of England until Sunday at 21:00 BST.
The Met Office warned that warm, dry conditions combined with freshening winds will create extreme wildfire conditions for many parts of England and Wales over the next few days. People are advised to take sensible precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure during the hottest part of the day, and checking on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
UV levels are expected to be high or very high across many parts of the UK throughout the week, requiring appropriate sun protection for those heading outdoors. A possible increase in thunderstorms from Monday is expected in parts of the south, though most areas will remain dry, sunny and very warm into the coming week.
