Survey reveals best and worst-rated GP surgeries in Mid Cheshire

Firdale Medical Centre in Northwich received the highest patient rating in Mid Cheshire, while Oakwood Medical Centre in Barnton recorded the lowest score.

Firdale Medical Centre has been rated the best GP surgery in Mid Cheshire in the latest national patient survey.

The practice on Firdale Road in Northwich received a positive overall experience rating from 92% of respondents, up from 80% the previous year.

At the other end of the table, Oakwood Medical Centre in Barnton received a score of 65%, down from 73%.

The 2026 GP Patient Survey asked patients about their experience of services including contacting their practice, making appointments, waiting times, care received and access to online services.

Nationally, 76.7% of respondents described their overall experience of their GP practice as good.

Twelve of the 14 practices listed across Northwich, Middlewich, Winsford and surrounding communities scored above that national figure.

The Weaver Vale Surgery in Winsford was second in the local rankings with 89%, unchanged from the previous year.

Willow Wood Surgery in Wharton recorded one of the largest improvements, rising from 78% to 87%.

The Weaverham Surgery also saw a notable increase, moving from 65% to 80%.

Oaklands at Middlewich Medical Centre recorded the biggest fall among the practices listed, dropping from 92% to 85%.

Danebridge Medical Centre in Northwich and Oakwood Medical Centre were the only two practices in the table to score below the rounded national average of 77%.

The results are based on responses from a sample of registered patients and do not represent every person using each surgery.

They provide a snapshot of patient experience rather than a complete assessment of clinical quality.

Individual practice scores can also be affected by the number of questionnaires returned and the experiences of those who chose to respond.
