Bellway Homes has submitted a planning application for 42 new homes on land east of Clay Lane in Wilmslow. This development is adjacent to another site where the developer is seeking permission for 133 dwellings, located off Cumber Lane.
The application for the 42-home site, identified as application number 26/2452/FUL, includes plans for a mix of detached, semi-detached, and mews-style homes, ranging from one to four bedrooms and up to two storeys in height. Access to the site would be via a junction created for the larger Cumber Lane development.
The proposed site covers approximately 1.37 hectares and primarily consists of open grassland, with some trees and existing kennels that will be demolished as part of the development. The plans include a commitment to provide 30 per cent affordable housing, equating to 13 properties.
Key benefits outlined by the developer include the site's sustainable location, which offers good access to local facilities and services, and the potential to enhance the vitality of Wilmslow town centre. The proposal also aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist routes and provide areas of public open space.
As of now, four residents have objected to the proposal, citing concerns over environmental impacts and the need for a coordinated planning approach from Cheshire East Council. The deadline for public comments on the 42-home application is August 13.
The 133-home proposal is scheduled to be considered by Cheshire East's strategic planning board next week, although the agenda for that meeting has not yet been published. Both applications can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website.
