Ten previously unheard tracks from David Bowie’s early career, recorded in 1965 when he performed under the stage name Davy Jones, will be released on 18 September as part of a new compilation titled David Bowie: The Shel Talmy Recordings. The 21-track album, released on the Parlophone label, includes 10 unreleased songs from Bowie’s time in 1960s London, performed either solo or with backing bands the Lower Third and the Manish Boys.

One of the new tracks, I Want Your Love, a bluesy rock’n’roll song, is already available on digital platforms ahead of the full release. The other unheard songs are Cupid, Leave Her to Me, You Gotta Tell Her, Certain Woman, Today, I Live in Dreams, I Do Believe I Love You, and an instrumental titled Keep Up With the Jones.

The recordings feature guitarist Jimmy Page before he formed Led Zeppelin, adding historical significance to the collection. Singles from this period, such as Can’t Help Thinking About Me and Do Anything You Say, have been available previously, but this compilation brings together a range of unreleased material for the first time.
