Plans to turn house into children's home rubber-stamped

A house on Elizabeth Terrace in Widnes has been approved for conversion into a children’s home, after planning officers backed the application. The home will cater for up to three children aged between seven and 18.
The proposal is for a small “family-style home” run by Widnes-based Brightside North West, according to the planning statement quoted in the source report. It said children would be supported to attend school, take part in community activities, develop independence skills and build positive relationships in a “stable and nurturing environment”.
The statement also said the home would be managed by an experienced registered manager who already oversees another Brightside children’s home in Halton that has an Outstanding rating from Ofsted.
No external alterations were proposed to the property, and the plans include off-street parking for up to six vehicles.
The application said there would be two staff members on duty each day from 9.45am until 11pm, with one member doing a sleep-in shift until 9.45am the following morning. It also said a further staff member would work between 2pm and 10pm, while the registered manager would visit regularly from Monday to Friday.
