Knutsford Library Secures £450 Grant for Summer Reading Activities
The funding will support extra children’s events designed to encourage reading for pleasure throughout the school holidays.

Knutsford Library has received a £450 grant from Knutsford Town Council through its Community Grant Scheme. This funding aims to support this year’s Summer Reading Challenge and a series of children's activities designed to inspire young readers.
Lise Hough, the librarian at Knutsford Library, stated that the grant will enable the library to organise one or two exciting events alongside the Summer Reading Challenge. The initiative is open to all children and encourages reading for pleasure during the summer holidays, helping to maintain literacy skills over the extended break from school.
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge is themed “Read to the Beat,” which invites children to explore the connection between stories and music. Planned activities include cheerleading sessions, hand drum-making workshops, and a Disney sing-along.
The Community Grant Scheme from Knutsford Town Council offers grants of up to £1,500 for projects that benefit the local community, with a focus on supporting young and older people, enhancing community assets, and raising the town’s profile. The next deadline for grant applications is 11 September.
