Five Water Companies Granted Provisional Permission to Raise Bills
Five water companies are set to increase bills as part of a £3.4 billion infrastructure investment plan.

Five water companies have received provisional approval to increase customer bills to support an additional £3.4 billion investment in infrastructure across England and Wales.
The companies affected include Southern Water, Thames Water, Severn Trent, Wessex Water, and South East Water. Southern Water is expected to implement the largest increase, with customers facing an additional £43 charge next year. Wessex Water customers will see a £4 increase starting mid-next year, followed by an additional £7 by 2030.
Customers of Thames Water and Severn Trent will experience an initial increase of £3 starting in 2027, with a further £2 rise in 2029, bringing the total increase to £5. South East Water plans to add £1 to bills in the financial year 2029 to 2030.
It is important to note that this permission is provisional, and no final decision has been made regarding the specific amounts. A public consultation on these proposals is currently open and will run until 24 September.
