Automated Concrete Collection Service Launches in Widnes
Beesley & Fildes has introduced a new automated concrete collection service at its Widnes branch, enabling tradespeople to quickly collect freshly mixed materials.

Beesley & Fildes has launched an automated concrete collection service at its Widnes branch located at Clare Sawmills, Hale Road, WA8 8PX. This service, known as Fibo Collect, offers a drive-through solution for collecting ready-mixed concrete, mortar, and screed, starting from a minimum order of 0.25m³.
The Fibo Collect machine can produce up to 16m³ of material per hour and is capable of mixing loads under 0.8m³ in less than five minutes. Craig Halpin, the branch manager at Beesley & Fildes Widnes, explained that the service addresses the common issue faced by tradespeople who require small quantities of concrete or mortar that are impractical to mix by hand.
Customers can visit the branch, place their order, and receive a barcode that allows them to collect their materials without the need for pre-booking standard orders. Halpin stated, "A customer can come into the Widnes branch, tell us what they need, collect their barcode and have the material mixed ready for them within minutes."
The collection process involves four steps: placing the order, collecting a barcode, positioning the vehicle or mortar tub, and scanning the code at the terminal to initiate mixing. The automated controls ensure accurate and consistent recipes, with customers able to choose from various mixes and optional additives.
James Beesley, the commercial director at Beesley & Fildes, noted the evolving role of builders' merchants, stating, "Customers quite rightly expect us to do more than simply have products sitting on shelves or in the yard. They want us to help make their businesses more productive, reduce wasted time and find better ways of getting materials onto site."
