The must-visit Cheshire town packed with independent shops, cafés and restaurants
Look beyond the luxury homes and the quirky street scene, and there’s a true community spirit in Knutsford.

Knutsford has been highlighted for its town centre full of independent businesses and a strong community spirit.
The Knutsford Guardian article says the town’s centre is compact, with Princess Street and King Street often described as “top and bottom street”, linked by small streets and alleyways.
It says the town is led by an unusually large number of independent business owners, and that Knutsford’s rich history is reflected in names used by pubs, cafés and restaurants.
The piece also says Knutsford inspired the streets of Cranford in Elizabeth Gaskell’s novel of the same name.
A local volunteer scheme, Knutsford Hosts, is singled out for its work across the town, with the article saying the organisation has a bank of more than 100 volunteers and has contributed 20,000 hours of community volunteering time.
The article also mentions a community campaign called Wear It Yellow, saying 95 per cent of town centre businesses came together for it, with 5,000 yellow balloons placed in town centre premises and a ball held at Toft Cricket Club.
