South East Water says more than 8,000 customers have been affected by water supply disruption across parts of Kent.
The company said its teams are exhausted and being pushed to their limits as they work to restore supplies. The BBC report says the problems have affected areas including Herne Bay, Blean and Brabourne, with bottled water stations also set up for customers in some locations.
South East Water has apologised to customers and said it is working to get supplies back on line as quickly as possible. The company has blamed the disruption on a combination of hot weather, high demand, pipe failures and power outages overnight.
Mike Pickard, the firm’s incident support manager, told the BBC the situation was unacceptable and said the company was doing everything it could to resolve it. Some supplies had begun to return in parts of the network, but the report said recovery was still ongoing.
The company also said bottled water stations would remain open for affected customers while engineers continued their work.
