Inspectors have rated Cheshire Springs in Whitby, Ellesmere Port, as ‘good’ overall after a Care Quality Commission inspection carried out between April and June. The home, which is part of Exemplar Health Care, was also rated ‘outstanding’ for caring.

The source report says the home supports adults living with complex needs. It says inspectors found that people received “outstanding care” from a skilled and motivated team who knew residents exceptionally well.

The report also said staff helped residents rebuild confidence, regain everyday skills and work towards personal goals. It added that physical and mental ill health was not seen as a barrier to helping people try new opportunities and become more independent.

Alison Lancaster, the home manager at Cheshire Springs, said she was proud that the home had been rated ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for caring following its first inspection. She said the most important part was hearing that people felt understood, listened to and supported to live life in the way they choose.

Inspectors rated the home ‘good’ for safety, effectiveness, responsiveness and well-led.
