A new primary school in Nantwich is preparing to welcome its first pupils after staff officially received the keys to the completed building.

Kingsbourne Academy, located on the Kingsbourne development off Reaseheath Way, is due to open on September 7 with its first reception class.

The school will be operated by North West Academies Trust and represents a significant addition to education provision in the growing town.

Staff received the keys to the new building on August 25 after the site was successfully signed off ahead of the start of the new academic year.

Attention will now turn to the final preparations needed before children arrive for their first day.

Sally Burns has been appointed as the first Head of School at Kingsbourne Academy.

She brings more than 16 years of experience in primary education to the role and will lead the school as it establishes its first intake of pupils.

The opening is particularly significant for Nantwich as Kingsbourne Academy is the first new school to open in the town for 23 years.

Its location within the Kingsbourne development reflects the continued expansion of housing and the resulting demand for local services and education.

The school will begin with its inaugural reception class rather than immediately operating with pupils across all primary year groups.

This will allow Kingsbourne Academy to establish itself progressively as subsequent intakes join the school.

North West Academies Trust already operates a number of schools across Cheshire and the wider North West.

With the building now handed over, the remaining preparations are taking place ahead of the official opening on September 7.

The arrival of the first reception pupils will mark the beginning of a new school community as well as the completion of a major piece of infrastructure for the Kingsbourne development.
