Tatton Park's historic Old Hall to host weddings for first time
Couples will be able to hold weddings in the grounds of Tatton Park's Old Hall for the first time, with an open day planned for September 13.

One of Cheshire's most historic buildings is opening its grounds to weddings for the first time as Tatton Park introduces a new option for couples looking for an outdoor venue.
The grounds of the Old Hall at Tatton Park, near Knutsford, will become available for wedding celebrations, offering couples the opportunity to create their own event around the historic setting.
To mark the launch, Tatton Park will hold a wedding open day on September 13, when prospective couples will be able to explore the site and see how the grounds could be arranged for a celebration.
A styled tipi will be set up to demonstrate one possible layout, while a selection of wedding suppliers will also attend.
These will include drinks supplier Jonny Cocktail, food providers and a professional celebrant, giving visitors an opportunity to discuss some of the practical elements involved in organising a wedding at the venue.
The Old Hall is the oldest surviving building on the Tatton estate and provides a markedly different setting from the more formal surroundings of Tatton Park's Mansion.
Its history stretches back hundreds of years, with the site developing from a medieval manor house and later becoming part of the extensive Tatton estate.
Charlene Clarke, events manager at Tatton Park, said the team was excited to make the venue available for weddings for the first time.
She said its combination of history, character and natural surroundings would allow couples to create celebrations tailored to their own plans.
The move also gives Tatton Park another way of using its historic estate while introducing the Old Hall to visitors who may not previously have explored that part of the site.
Carolyn Latham, mansion and collections manager at Tatton Park, said the Old Hall had been at the centre of Tatton's history for generations.
She said opening its grounds for weddings would allow couples to become part of that continuing history while helping the estate share the heritage of the site with a new audience.
The Old Hall has traditionally provided visitors with an insight into an earlier period of Tatton's history and contrasts with the grandeur of the later Mansion and its collections.
Its introduction as a wedding setting adds to the range of events and experiences offered across the wider Tatton Park estate.
The September open day will allow couples to inspect the grounds before deciding whether the location suits their plans and to speak with suppliers about potential arrangements.
