A Nantwich company specialising in helping athletes prepare for life after sport has partnered with Revolut to create a new route into corporate careers.
MOJOE and the financial technology company have launched an Athlete Transition Programme that will identify and prepare athletes before placing successful recruits into roles across Revolut’s business.
The first intake will consist of five selected athletes who will join Revolut’s sales team in entry-level positions.
The programme is designed to tackle a problem facing many professional and elite athletes when their sporting careers end: translating years of experience in competitive sport into skills that employers can recognise and use.
MOJOE, which is based on Welsh Row in Nantwich, was founded by former professional footballer Joe Davis and Tim Alexander.
The company already operates a seven-stage Career Readiness Programme covering areas including transferable skills, CV preparation, workplace confidence and the realities of moving into a corporate environment.
Under the new partnership, MOJOE and Revolut will work together on preparing athletes for that transition before successful candidates enter Revolut’s recruitment and onboarding process.
Joe Davis said his own experience of leaving professional sport helped shape the company’s approach.
He said athletes often reach the end of their sporting careers without having properly prepared for what comes next, despite developing attributes that can transfer into other professions.
Tim Alexander said athletes spend much of their careers learning how to prepare, compete and improve, but those qualities are not always translated effectively for prospective employers.
The initial intake is deliberately small, allowing the two companies to assess how the programme works and refine the recruitment and onboarding process before considering expansion.
MOJOE said its longer-term ambition is to establish a repeatable pipeline through which athletes can move into opportunities at Revolut, but the immediate focus will be on the first five recruits.
The partnership is also a significant development for the Nantwich company, connecting a locally based business with one of the UK’s best-known financial technology firms.
For Revolut, the programme provides another source of potential recruits, particularly people with experience of working in highly competitive and performance-focused environments.
The partnership will initially concentrate on sales roles, where the first five selected athletes will begin their careers with the company.
MOJOE’s wider Career Readiness Programme remains open to applications from athletes looking to prepare for employment beyond sport.
