Go-ahead for 168-home plan - but developer urged to 'pull finger out'
Councillors want Taylor Wimpey to sort out drainage problems from the earlier phase one

Councillors have backed a 168-home scheme in Wilmslow, but Taylor Wimpey has been told to sort out drainage problems linked to the earlier phase of the development.
The phase two application was brought by Jones Homes and Taylor Wimpey for safeguarded land at Dean Row Road. It was deferred by Cheshire East’s strategic planning board in July, mainly because of flooding concerns.
At that earlier meeting, councillors were told that since phase one of the development had been built, six different areas had flooded.
At this week’s meeting, Guy Metcalfe from the local lead flood authority said there were still concerns about outstanding measures linked to phase one, and that steps had been taken to deal with them directly with the developer.
Brian O’Connor, speaking for the applicant, said the drainage strategy had been rigorously assessed by the flood authority and the relevant drainage bodies, and that there was no objection.
The scheme has now been approved, with councillors urging the developer to “pull its finger out” over the drainage issues from the earlier phase.
