New landlord sought for historic Audlem village pub
Stonegate Pub Partners is looking for an operator to take over The Lord Combermere, with investment in its beer garden among plans for the Cheshire venue.

A search has begun for someone to take over the running of The Lord Combermere in the centre of Audlem.
Stonegate Pub Partners is seeking a new publican for the Cheshire venue, which overlooks the village square and serves both the local community and visitors to the area.
The company says the pub already has an established food and drink trade but believes there is scope for its next operator to develop the business further.
Investment is planned for the beer garden, with improvements intended to make greater use of the outdoor space during the warmer months.
Stonegate also sees opportunities to expand the food offer and introduce more events, while attracting additional trade from people visiting Audlem and the surrounding countryside.
The village’s location and its proximity to the Shropshire Union Canal bring walkers, cyclists, boaters and other visitors into the area alongside the pub’s regular local customers.
Mike Cotterill, regional manager for Stonegate Pub Partners, said The Lord Combermere’s central position gives it a distinctive role within the village.
He said: “Its position in the centre of Audlem, overlooking the village square, gives it a character and sense of place that is hard to find.”
Stonegate is looking for an operator with experience or an interest in food, drink and events who can maintain the pub’s existing community trade while developing other parts of the business.
The new publican will have flexibility to shape the menu and events programme and make greater use of the outdoor space once the planned improvements are completed.
Private accommodation is included with the tenancy.
Stonegate said it is particularly interested in finding someone who wants to take an active role in village life while building on the pub’s existing customer base.
