Former Ellesmere Port offices to be converted into 'smart hotel'
The new aparthotel will be aimed at contractors

A former accountants’ office in Ellesmere Port has been approved for conversion into an 11-room “smart hotel” aimed mainly at contractors.
Cheshire West planners backed the change of use for the former office building on Whitby Road, known officially as Fairfield House. The plans were submitted by Corazon Living Ltd.
The application said the aparthotel would use automated digital check-in and passcode entry systems, with no resident manager on site. It said management visits would take place once a day for around two hours when required, and cleaning staff would be present during daytime hours.
According to the application, the hotel is intended mainly for contractor accommodation, with guests expected to stay Monday to Friday and return home at weekends. It will have communal kitchens, a lounge and dining room, but no food, beverage or event facilities on site.
The building was previously occupied by accountancy firm Johnstone Howell & Co before the business moved to Chester last year. The plans also said there would be one full-time job and five part-time roles, with parking spaces retained at the front of the building for cars and bicycles.
