Cheshire West and Chester Council has launched a public consultation on a new Design Code intended to guide high-quality development across the borough. The online survey is open until Tuesday 24 November.
The code is designed to set clear expectations for developers and focuses on creating attractive public streets and spaces. The council says it wants feedback on the code’s content, structure and principles, as well as any gaps.
According to the source report, the consultation is mainly aimed at industry professionals such as architects, highway engineers and planning consultants, but residents and community groups are also being asked to comment if they feel it will improve their neighbourhoods.
The council says the code has already been shaped by two rounds of community engagement, including in-person events, interviews and workshops.
The full Design Code and a summary document are available online, and the code can also be viewed digitally at local libraries. Comments can be submitted through the council’s website or by post to Design Code Consultation, Development Management, Cheshire West and Chester Council, The Portal, Wellington Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0BA.
