Plans have been submitted for up to 205 homes on land west of Crewe Road in Shavington.

Colin and Geraldine Silvester have applied to Cheshire East Council for outline planning permission. The proposal also includes access, open space and associated infrastructure.

The application site is mainly agricultural land used for occasional horse grazing. It includes Shavington House, a two-storey brick farmhouse on the eastern boundary, and commercial buildings in the north-east corner.

The plans propose demolishing the farmhouse while retaining a vehicle repair garage and joinery business operating from the site. The application documents say both businesses would remain, with improved access and parking arrangements.

The land is designated as a strategic green gap in the Cheshire East Local Plan. However, the design and access statement submitted by eSCAPE Urbanists Ltd on behalf of the applicants describes the site as well contained.

It says the land is bounded by Shavington to the south and west, Crewe Road to the east and existing commercial development to the north.

The statement also describes the site as adjoining Shavington and having access to local services, schools, healthcare, employment, open space and recreational facilities.

The application is currently being considered by Cheshire East Council. The deadline for comments is Thursday 29 October.
