The Tories' financial plans and a hack at online shopping outlet Asos lead Wednesday's papers.

National newspaper coverage of Conservative tax plans and a suspected cyber incident involving Asos leads Wednesday’s front pages.

The Times reports that Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch is expected to use her speech at the party’s annual conference to set out proposals to reduce inheritance tax and halve employer National Insurance contributions for younger workers.

The paper says Ms Badenoch will describe the Conservatives as being involved in a “battle for the soul of our nation”. The Daily Mail also leads on her proposals, describing them as a plan to cut job taxes and help young people back into work.

A BBC interview with Ms Badenoch on Tuesday is also highlighted. She said she would prefer another general election to forming an alliance with Reform UK if no party won an overall majority.

The Metro focuses on a suspected cyber incident involving online fashion retailer Asos. The company said customer data may have been accessed after hackers sent what the newspaper described as a threatening notification.

The source report does not give a confirmed location for the Asos incident, nor does it mention police involvement, affected customers or any council response.

Other front-page stories include reports that Chancellor John Healey is preparing a £1bn package intended to help bring down energy bills.

The Times also carries a photograph of police in riot gear during protests over school funding in France, which it reports turned violent.
