The first-ever Macclesfield Coffee Festival is just days away!

Organised by Macclesfield Town Council, over two dozen businesses across town will be taking part in the inaugural event.

Running from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, October 17, festival-goers can expect freebies, discounts, workshops, live music, exhibitions and more.

Jen Halland, the council's new events manager, said: "We have created this event to celebrate Macclesfield's brilliant community and independent businesses, bringing people together, boosting local cafés and putting Macclesfield on the map as the perfect mix of the Peak District and a great brew."

Yas Bean are among the local coffee shops taking part in the festival.

They will be celebrating their five-year partnership with Bollington-based Kickback Coffee, offering free samples and a 20% discount.

"We love Macclesfield and are so thrilled to have a spotlight on our town's growing coffee scene," said a staff member at Yas Bean.

Elsewhere, Cherry Blossom Bakery on Church Street will be giving out free coffee cupcakes to the first 100 people to visit.

Meanwhile, Modern Woolfare at Picturedrome will be offering 'cowboy style' coffee, brewed over an open flame, as well as the chance to carve your own spoon.

Owner, Brian Painter, said: "It's long been the locals 'in-joke' that as soon as a new place is rumoured to open or a premises becomes empty, then 'we could do with another coffee shop'.

"So it's been decided to lean into our abundance and celebrate what we do have in our amazing town."
