German indie pop-rock duo barn54 performed at The Wilbraham Arms in Nantwich on 2 October as part of their 2026 From Athens to Aberdeen UK tour.
The Heidelberg-based duo, Simon Buss and Sina Ray, were supported by Nantwich singer and guitarist Jonathan Tarplee and Dave Coomer on cajón box drum. Both local musicians are members of The Blue Yellows and later joined barn54 on stage.
The performance featured a mix of indie rock, indie pop and acoustic music, with guitar, piano, vocals and harmonies across the set. Upbeat songs encouraged the audience to sing and dance, while more reflective ballads provided contrast.
The duo played several fan favourites, including Still Fighting, Answer in the Sky and The Shades Song. Simon Buss also moved around the venue while performing, prompting a strong response from the audience.
The Shades Song has been released in several versions, including a punk-rock arrangement and a newer summer version recorded inside barn54’s touring van.
“It was fantastic to be back in Nantwich and to share our music with such a warm and enthusiastic crowd,” Buss and Ray said.
They added that they enjoyed touring in their van, meeting new people and returning to places where they had previously made friends.
Barn54 said the Nantwich show was another stop on their UK tour and thanked Tarplee and Coomer for joining them on stage.
The duo has recorded more than 1.5 million Spotify streams. Their music draws on influences including grunge, indie, 1960s music, blues, hard rock and folk, alongside occasional punk-rock elements.
The Nantwich date was followed by planned performances at Tom’s Tap in Crewe on Friday 9 October and Artisan Tap in Stoke on Saturday 10 October, with The Blue Yellows supporting at both shows.
Barn54 is also planning to release a new EP in early 2027.
