Three community organisations in Wilmslow have secured grants totalling £6,000 to fund improvements ranging from classroom technology to sports facilities and outdoor activities.

Wilmslow Town Council has awarded £2,000 each to St Anne’s Fulshaw CE Primary School PTA, Wilmslow Cricket Club and 6th Alderley Scout Group through its community grants programme.

The funding will support projects aimed at improving educational resources, recreational facilities and opportunities for young people.

At St Anne’s Fulshaw CE Primary School, the PTA will use its grant towards replacing 30 ageing tablets and purchasing a charging trolley.

The investment is intended to provide pupils with more reliable access to digital learning equipment and opportunities to develop their technology skills.

Wilmslow Cricket Club, which recently merged with Lindow Cricket Club, has received funding towards improvements at Rectory Fields, located at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

The club plans to purchase benches and boundary boards to improve facilities for spectators and people using the surrounding area.

According to the council, the improvements are intended to make the grounds more welcoming for cricket supporters while providing space for people to sit and relax outside matches.

The third grant will support 6th Alderley Scout Group, based at Dean Row Village Hall.

Its £2,000 allocation will help purchase new camping tents, additional sports equipment and resources for weekly Scout meetings.

The equipment is expected to support a wider range of activities and outdoor experiences for the group’s young members.

Wilmslow Town Mayor Councillor Sally Harrison welcomed the successful applications, saying the three projects would benefit different parts of the community.

She highlighted the educational opportunities created by the school’s new technology, the activities offered by the Scouts and the improvements planned for Rectory Fields.

The mayor also thanked the organisations for their continued contributions to local community life.

All three awards form part of Wilmslow Town Council’s community grants programme, which provides financial assistance to eligible local organisations and projects.

Further information about the programme and grant applications is available through the council’s website.
