A Runcorn pub is preparing to reopen following a £150,000 refurbishment that has created eight new jobs.

The Halfway House, on Halton Road, will welcome customers back at 6pm on Friday 16 October after improvements to its interior and exterior.

The investment has funded new furniture, upgraded toilets and entertainment facilities, including two interactive darts lanes and an additional pool table.

Custom graffiti artwork by artist Jano has also been introduced as part of the refurbishment.

The pub is managed by Mandy Schon and Gemma Conway, who have been running the venue for the past nine years.

Darts is expected to remain a prominent part of the pub’s offering, with a mural of professional player Luke Littler planned for the new darts room.

Littler, who has strong connections to the local area, is reported to visit the Halfway House occasionally to play darts with customers.

The refurbishment has been carried out by Blind Tiger Inns, which owns the venue.

Chris Tulloch, the company’s founder and managing director, said the investment was intended to improve the pub while supporting employment in Runcorn.

“This investment supports hospitality in Runcorn and creates new local jobs,” he said.

“We’ve updated the pub inside and out and added new entertainment, giving people more ways to meet and spend quality time together.”

The eight new positions form part of the investment in the venue, although the original announcement does not specify the individual roles.

The reopening will also feature live entertainment, giving customers an opportunity to see the changes made to the pub.

The Halfway House is scheduled to reopen at 6pm on Friday 16 October.
