Wilmslow residents will be able to meet for free tea, biscuits and conversation at a new weekly community gathering starting on Thursday 22 October.
Organised by Wilmslow Town Council, the Tea & Biscuits sessions will take place at Lacey Green Pavilion every Thursday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
The initiative is intended to give residents an informal place to meet neighbours, make new connections and spend time with others in the local community.
Attendance is free, with hot drinks and biscuits provided. There is no need to register or book a place in advance.
The sessions are funded by Wilmslow Town Council and will be coordinated by town councillors, council staff and community volunteers.
Cheshire East Council has agreed to provide the use of Lacey Green Pavilion free of charge.
Wilmslow Town Mayor Councillor Sally Harrison said the council hoped the gatherings would encourage more residents to connect with one another.
“We hope the sessions will provide a warm and welcoming space for people to come together and feel more connected to their local community,” she said.
The mayor also thanked Cheshire East Council for making the pavilion available and residents who had already volunteered to help run the sessions.
The town council is seeking additional volunteers who can spare an hour or two each week to assist with the gatherings.
Anyone interested in helping can contact Helen Yates, Wilmslow Town Council’s Community Coordinator, at community@wilmslowtowncouncil.gov.uk.
The first Tea & Biscuits session will take place on Thursday 22 October, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, at Lacey Green Pavilion, Clough Avenue, Wilmslow, SK9 4BU.
Residents can attend without booking.
