Hartford’s Red Lion pub is set to reopen in December after Cheshire Pub Co took over the venue on Chester Road.

The company took possession of the pub on Monday, 19 October, and is planning to welcome customers back around the first week of December. The confirmed reopening date will be announced as work progresses.

Cheshire Pub Co director Chris Jennings said the aim was to create “a proper village pub offering”, with food, well-kept beer, wine and a welcoming atmosphere for all generations.

The company said the Red Lion would be a place for people to meet friends, enjoy a family meal or call in for a drink.

Cheshire Pub Co has thanked the pub’s previous landlady, Cathy, who continues to own the building. Jennings also recognised the contribution she, her late husband Julio and their family have made to Hartford over the past 30 years.

The firm said it wanted to build on the Red Lion’s longstanding connection with the village and work alongside other businesses in the local community.

Recruitment is now under way for kitchen, bar and front-of-house roles ahead of the reopening.

Further updates, including recruitment information and the confirmed opening date, will be shared through Cheshire Pub Co’s social media channels.
