Longer queues are expected at Macclesfield household waste recycling centre while repair works take place over the next few months.
The work is due to begin on Monday 16 November. Cheshire East Council has advised residents to plan visits in advance and avoid peak periods where possible.
Traffic management will be introduced at the site, with containers moved from their usual positions. The changes are expected to affect how visitors move around the recycling centre.
The centre will no longer accept wood, asbestos, rubble or plasterboard during the works. These materials can instead be taken to alternative Cheshire East recycling centres, including those at Crewe and Alsager.
The site may also close for up to 30 minutes at a time while skips are exchanged and compacted to create additional capacity.
Mondays and Tuesdays are expected to be the busiest days. The weekend booking system will remain in operation.
Councillor David Jefferay, Cheshire East Council’s cabinet member for environment, sustainability and waste management, said the works were unavoidable and acknowledged that they would disrupt visitors.
He said the council had scheduled the repairs during a quieter period for site visits and would work to keep disruption to a minimum, with clear communication for residents arriving at the centre.
Signage will be placed at the site, while further updates will be provided through Cheshire East Council’s website and social media channels.
