TG Jones in Sandbach is due to close on Saturday, 2 January 2027.
Closing-down signs have appeared in the shop window, while a notice at the till confirms the branch’s final trading date.
The store is at 12 High Street, Sandbach. It replaced the former WHSmith high-street business after the chain was bought by Modella Capital, the company that also owns Hobbycraft, in a deal reported to be worth £76 million.
Modella Capital has announced plans to close 22 TG Jones shops across the UK as part of a restructuring intended to keep the retailer out of administration. The wider programme could result in the closure of up to 150 stores.
The Sandbach announcement comes only weeks after local staff told Nub News they understood the branch would remain open.
The High Street property is now being marketed to let by Emanuel Oliver, with an asking rent of £50,000 a year, excluding business rates.
The listing describes the building as being in Sandbach town centre, close to local car parks, with nearby occupiers including Iceland, William Hill, Boots, Hays Travel and Costa. It is being offered on a new full repairing and insuring lease.
The store is scheduled to trade until 2 January 2027.
